Indus app privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 05, 2025

1. Introduction

Indus Shield ("the App", "we", "us") is a call blocking utility designed to provide users with control over incoming communications. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and how we protect your information.

The core philosophy of Indus Shield is Data Sovereignty. The App is designed to operate offline, meaning your personal communication data (call logs, contacts, and rules) is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

2. Permissions and Data Access

To function as a Call Blocker and Spam Eliminator, Indus Shield requires specific sensitive permissions. We utilize these permissions strictly for the app's core functionality.

A. Call Log and Phone State (READ_CALL_LOG, READ_PHONE_STATE)

  • Why we need it: On Android versions 9 (Pie) and above, the operating system requires the READ_CALL_LOG permission to allow the App to identify the phone number of an incoming call via the BroadcastReceiver.

  • How we use it: When your phone rings, the App reads the incoming number in real-time to compare it against your local "Blocklist".

  • Data Handling: This process happens locally on your device. We do not upload, store on external servers, or share your call history with third parties.

  • Ghost Logs: If a call is blocked, the App creates a local record (Ghost Log) inside the App's private storage so you can review it later. You can delete these logs at any time.

B. Call Management (ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS, CALL_PHONE)

  • Why we need it: To perform the blocking action.

  • How we use it: When a blocklist match is found, the App uses these permissions to programmatically end (hang up) the call.

C. Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE)

  • Why we need it: To ensure the App remains active and can intercept calls even when the App is minimized, swiped away, or the device is in a low-power state.

  • How we use it: The App maintains a lightweight background process to listen for the PHONE_STATE trigger.

3. Third-Party Data Collection (Advertising)

While the core blocking features operate offline, Indus Shield uses Google AdMob to support development via the "Time Bank" feature.

  • Service Provider: Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob).

  • Data Collected by AdMob: AdMob may collect and process information such as:

    • Advertising ID (AAID) for personalized or non-personalized ads.

    • Device performance data and crash logs.

    • General location data (if available).

  • Usage: This data is used solely to display advertisements and prevent fraud.

  • Privacy Link: For more information on how Google manages data, please visit: Google Privacy Policy.

Note: We do not share your Blocklist, Whitelist, or Call History with Google AdMob.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local Data: All rules (Blocklist/Whitelist) and logs (Ghost Logs) are stored in your device's internal memory (Hive Database / Shared Preferences).

  • Deletion: You have full control. You can delete specific rules or clear your entire history directly within the App's settings. Uninstalling the App will permanently remove all local data.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the data stored locally on your device. However, please note that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage users to keep their device operating system updated to ensure maximum security.

6. Children's Privacy

Indus Shield is intended for general audiences aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to remove it.
